Establishment Overview

Situated in the north of Fair Isle, the Fair Isle Bird Observatory Guest House offers comfortable en-suite accommodation in a stunning setting, overlooking the iconic Sheep Rock and peaceful Havens. In just a few minutes walk you can be enjoying the stillness of North Haven beach, or watching the antics of the puffins on Buness.

There are also plenty of opportunities to get involved with activities at the Observatory, including morning trap rounds with the wardens to see birds being ringed, guided walks and talks, night-time storm petrel ringing in late summer, and relaxing in the lounge-bar in the evening with hot chocolate (or something stronger!) and our legendary home-bakes as we go through the birds seen that day.

Not a birder? Fair Isle has 26 miles of beautiful coastline and a fascinating social and cultural history to explore, from evidence of the first Neolithic settlers to the role Fair Isle played in past and more recent conflicts. Fair Isle still plays host to a skilled craft community, with a mixture of traditional knitwear and more modern textiles produced on the island.

Discounts available from late April-11th May, 1st-31st August, 15th-31st October.
